  IntenseDebate: Socializing the Blogosphere
  IntenseDebate was recently acquired by Automattic, the makers of WordPress. After breifly reviewing their site and system, it's obvious what they're trying to do. There attempting to serve as the glue that more formally binds the blogosphere into one giant social network. There is MyBlogLog and maybe others already, but IntenseDebate is targeting the heart of interaction on blogs, which is the comment system. Now with Automattic acquiring them and beginning to integrate the IntenseDebate system into WordPress, it is bound to acheive that, which is a huge feat.
